The Earth’s creation is something that a lot of us don’t know about. We get confused with biblical creation and Greek creation. They have a lot of things in common and a lot of things that are different. The Greeks and Biblical creation are similar in the way that they both separate light and dark, also they both created different thing of the Earth in a series; however, they are different in the way that they have different amount of Gods and the way that they split the different characteristics of the Earth up.

One of the Similarities is that they both separate light from dark. In the Bible in Genesis 1:3-5 it states ; God spoke: “Light!” And light appeared. God saw that light was good and separated light from dark. God named the light Day, he named the dark night.” This is why now we have morning and night separated. In the greek story ; “first came dark and then came the God of Light.” Biblical creation had the same technique they brought night and day from light and dark. This proves that they both separated light and darkness.

Another Similarity that they have is that they both created things on the earth in a series. In Greek mythology “first came Chaos, 2nd appeared Erubus (darkness) , Love was then brought bringing a start in order.” They all came one after another not all at once. In biblical, God also created them one by one. In the Bible God spoke: “Earth, green up! Grow all varieties of seed-bearing plants, every sort of fruit-bearing tree.”and there they were. In the bible in Genesis 1:1-2 it states, “First , God created the Heavens and Earth—all you see, all you don’t see. Earth was a soup of nothingness, a bottomless emptiness, an inky blackness. God’s Spirit brooded like a bird above the watery abyss.” Therefore this shows that in both biblical and greek stories the Earths characteristics came in a certain order.

Something that is different between greek creation and biblical creation is the number of Gods they have. In biblical, there was only one God who created everything. “ In the beginning, God created the heavens and Earth.” Genesis 1: 1. There are many different religions that may believe in more than one God or people that don’t believe in religious things but Christianity is the overthrowing religion and that is what is stated for biblical. In greek creation, there was a God for every characteristic of the Earth. “Beginning there was only chaos, 2nd appeared Erebus the unknowable place where death dwells-” As for greek there is a God for the sun, Apollo or some say Helios, God of water, Poseidon, Gaea, or the Greek God of the Earth, etc.

Another thing that is different is the way that they split things up.In the bible it states that they split things up from good to bad , light, dark, etc. In Genesis 1:9-10 it says “And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas- . For greek creation it doesn’t really state the way they split things up but it does say that “Then out of the void appeared Erebus, the unknowable place where death dwells, and Night. All else was empty, silent, endless, darkness. Then somehow Love was born bringing a start of order.” so the Gods that created the Earth in Greek Mythology kind of just made the rules on their own. Therefore they are different in the way that they decide to split up the characteristics of the Earth.

The Earth’s creation is something that we still don’t know completely about. Once we look at the similarities and differences between Biblical creation stories and Greek creation stories we can learn more about it. The Greeks and Biblical creation are similar in the way that they both separate light and dark, also they both created a different thing of the Earth in a series; however, they are different in the way that they have a different amount of Gods and the way that they split the different characteristics of the Earth up.
